The Wave Inspire 14 is a shoe that has changed little over the years. It is a stability shoe with a 12mm drop and a weight just above 10 ounces. Quite traditional upper and a midsole that is common for Mizuno, but uncommon for the other brands. More on this in a little while. It’s the kind of ~$120 running shoe that competes with the Asics GT Gone in the 25 (RTR Review) was the rigid, firm, overbearing ride and upper fit of the 24. For the 26 Mizuno refines the progress made in the prior edition yet further: 2mm more stack height front and back of Enerzy Foam to come in at a max cushion grade 38.5mm heel / 26.5mm forefoot stack height with no real gain in weight.
Classification: Neutral Daily Training Shoe. RUNNING SHOE SUMMARY. David: The Mizuno Wave Rider 27 is a pleasant update to the 26. The shoe makes some tweaks to the upper and lacing design which provide a more locked down experience. The upper is from 90% recycled materials and the wave plate is plant based.
The heel portion of the Wave Prophecy uses the same wave design as the Mizuno Wave Creation 12 but the midfoot and forefoot employ a completely new wave plate design. The top wave in the Wave Prophecy includes Mizuno’s InterCool ventilation system which evacuates hot air from inside the shoe via a series of ports engineered into the plate design.
