A Stranded Villager must be escorted to their Lost Mount, which will be waiting in place elsewhere in the map.
At this point you'll probably want to work on your griffon masteries if you can unlock it. After that, Springer #4 for reduced fall damage then either Skimmer for faster recovery after being dismounted or Raptor for a slight boost of damage on your engage skill. springer, then hold onto your points for the griffon.
For players that are just starting out in GW2, if they want to get a mount, they have to figure out how to change the personal story and use their level 80 boost. Even if they do figure all of that out, asking to play the story out of sequence for someone new to GW2 is just not a good option at all.
EoD only provides the two basic mounts (Raptor and Springer) 2. EoD doesn't unlock the mount masteries for those two basic mounts. 3. EoD will not unlock the Warclaw mount mastery in WvW. Only PoF offers the complete mount experience. If having access to a mount is your primary goal, then get the PoF expansion/DLC.
I started playing GW with my GF a few months back, we decided to buy the first 2 expansions. I somehow unlocked the raptor mount, but she still does not. I don't know if we have to do something in particular. I've read on other posts that devs allowed players that bought the expansion to unlock the mount after lvl 10, and if you were over it
